How do you start a Quicktime session without going through the browser?

On the Viewer's Page, right-click on "Download SDP file" and save it to your Desktop. Drag it onto the Quicktime Player to launch the player. Alternately, in File/URL of the Quicktime Player enter this value:

    rtsp://domain.com:554/audio_and_graphics.sdp

where domain.com is the IP or DNS of the Telepresenter.

Can one make an adjustment to reduce the streaming latency?

In Edit/Preferences/Quicktime Preferences/Streaming, enable Instant-On and set the slider to Immediately. Alternatively, use multicast instead of RTSP if you can, which should be possible if you are on the same LAN segment.
